LUCID DREAMING GUIDE

Here is all the methods I use to lucid Dream, and all methods that i don't use, but could stull be of use.

i have previously written a short guide elsewhere, but here i shall go in much greater detail.

Lucid Dreaming is when you become aware in your dream, that you are dreaming. lucid. get it?

within a lucid dream you can practically do anything you want, you can percieve touch, taste, smell, sound, anything you can think of that is both Possible, and Impossible in the real world, depending on how vivid your dream is.

the following examples are the things you can do:

Its not all vanity, lucid dreaming can be used to learn and practice skills in a controlled environmnet.

outside time constraints and insomnia, there is little reason for you to not practice lucid dreaming.

NOTE

Lucid Dreaming is a complicated skill to learn, one that could take months at best, to years at worst. don't expect to get your first lucid dream anytime soon.

and there is always a risk of lucid nightmares and sleep paralysis, but they can be beneficial if you know what you're doing.

WHAT YOU NEED

From most to least mandatory

Dream Journaling

The reason you need that is to help memorise your dreams, which is a crucial step towards getting a lucid dream. it can be digital or on paper.

the moment you wake up, bring out your dream journal and write down your dream in as much detail as you can remember.

this will aid in building your dream memory, and to help recognize certain dream signs that will be crutial for some of the following methods.

you should do this every day, even if you didn't have a dream that night, write that down too. you must make this a habit.

Alarm

this will be important if you're going to do the Wake Back To Bed (WBTB) method, which is among the most imporant steps of getting a lucid dream.

if you dont like alarms, you can practice your mind to wake up at a set time, or drink a lot of water before bed and hope you don't piss yourself.

Schedule

There is a good chance when doing WBTB that you'll find yourself unable to fall asleep, and thus risk giving yourself insomnia

I suggest if you're a wagie to attempt a lucid dream at weekends

But if losing some sleep is not a concern, i would suggest doing it every day.

You will also need a stable sleep schedule if you want to be successful, waking up and going to bed at erratic times will not favor your odds of becoming lucid.

Patience

as stated before, getting a successful lucid dream will take time and peristence. It took me ~50 Days to get my first lucid dream.

but mastering lucid dreaming, to have full control with little worry of waking up suddenly, is something that will take you much longer, and something that i'm still practicing.

melatonin

This is to help you fall asleep.

take 1-10mg melatonin 30 minutes to one hour before you go to sleep. and take the same amount right after you wake up when doing WBTB

otherwise, its not mandatory.

LUCID DREAMING TECHNIQUES

now we are getting into the techniques of getting a lucid dream. these are the backbone of your lucid dreaming endeavours.

some of the methods are far easier than others, but all should work well with enough practice.

and if one method isn't working for you, you can try another.

i like to categorize them in two, Primary and Secondary.

Primary techniques are the ones that give you a lucid dream, Secondary techniques are what supplement the primary techniques, some like WBTB are mandatory.

SECONDARY TECHNIQUES

those should go alongside your primary techniques, you should do all of them.

WAKE BACK TO BED (WBTB)

Your mind goes through different stages of REM sleep, those stages are when you're dreaming. the aim of WBTB is to take advantage of the final stage of REM (which is also the longest and most vivid stage)

the chart below should help visualize how this works (credit goes to whoever made it)

Centered Image

First set your alarm 4-6 Hours after you typically fall asleep

When the alarm sounds off, Take 1-10mg melatonin (optional, but recommended)

Remain awake for 5-10 minutes, potty break if necessary, then go back to bed.

REALITY CHECKS

reality checks are the most reliable ways of attaining lucidity while dreaming, or to maintain awareness that you're in a dream. but Reality checks alone Won't give you a lucid dream. they can be performed anywhere anytime.

there are many forms of reality checks, they can be simple or complex. you should perform at least Three reality checks back to back, as they have a tendency to fail at times.

here is a list of reality checks you can reliably perform, from most to least convenient.

these are the most common form of reality checks, as stated previously, you should do at least three for optimal results.

unlike what other guides might suggest, i don't recommend doing reality checks on a set time (say, every 30 minutes)

Instead, you should perform it frequently whenever the thought of you dreaming comes to mind, or when something bizarre or unusual happens.

perform them anywhere anytime, public and private, outside and inside.

NOTE: When performing a reality check, always make sure you're focused on it, don't do it mindlessly.

ANCHORS

An anchor is a way to keep yourself grounded in reality as you drift into deep sleep.

anything can be used as an anchor. Sound, touch, breathing, your clogged nose, a sock, constipation, etc.

even your own blanket can be used as an anchor, but that i don't really recommend.

to use an anchor, simply feel or hear it, and pay good attention. as long as you reliably feel its presence, you can use it as an anchor.

the most reliable anchor is holding a hand gesture, such as your fist or an OK gesture. or a middle finger. whatever suits you best.

I personally use my own hand gesture which i find most comfortable, its a slight modificaton of the OK sign as seen below

NOTE: Don't focus too hard on your anchor, or you won't fall asleep. just be aware of it as you drift away

PRIMARY TECHNIQUES

Those are the techniques that will give you a lucid dream

MNEMONIC INDUCED LUCID DREAMING (MILD)

MILD is a reliable and proven method for lucid dreaming

MILD is when you are setting an intention to remember to realise you're dreaming the next time you dream

To perform MILD, you must first wake up (WBTB). after you go back to bed, recall the dream you just had, and visualize yourself becoming lucid in it.

while doing so, vizualise yourself doing various things you'd like to do in the lucid dream, like flying or exploring or whatever else.

if you didn't get a dream, you can use any previous dream you remember.

While imagining yourself becoming lucid, make it your intention to become lucid. either through repeating a mantra in your head (like "I Will become Lucid") or by willing it when falling asleep. the more important of a task you make it seem, the greater the odds of you becoming lucid.

try and focus, but not so hard as to not fall asleep.

SENSES INITIATED LUCID DREAM (SSILD)

SSILD is a technique i've had some experience with, and know of its potential

SSILD is when you cycle through your Senses as you fall asleep to build awareness.

You Cycle through Sight, Smell, Sound, and touch. similar to an anchor, but more focus is put on your senses.

after doing WBTB, pay attention to your bodily senses as you drift back to sleep.

Focus on your sight, and after a few minutes fous on your smell or breathing, then your touch, then sound, and back again to sight (in no particular order)

If done correctly, you can enter into a very vivid lucid dream, or become lucid in a dream as it increses your awareness.

its the easiest to do, but compared to MILD, its not as reliable.

WAKE INDUCED LUCID DREAMING (WILD)

WILD is when you transition into a lucid dream straight away from wakefulness. It gives the best most vivid results, but is complicated and risky.

when you fall asleep, your body becomes paralyzed. and if your body is paralyzed but your mind is still "conscious", this can induce a phenomena known as Sleep Paralysis

for how nasty sleep paralysis can be, its also a great opportunity to fall straight into a lucid dream.

I've had no Success in WILD, but i know it is doable for how close i was at times.

WILD requires a good sleep environment free from distractions, you will have to prepare for it in advance. you will also have to make it your main intention throughout the day for the best chances of succeeding.

First, you must induce sleep paralysis. for that YOU WILL NEED WBTB AND AN ANCHOR.

after waking up and going back to bed, focus on your anchor as you fall asleep. Relax, and observe what is happening.

If all goes well, you will notice your body become paralyzed. when that happens, give in and let it come to you naturally.

you will begin to see things, colors shapes and whatever else. you might feel uncomfortable, but you must not let it bother you as its your mind testing to see if you are truly awake.

when the visuals become more clear, Focus on a scene you wish to be in. try and visualize yourself in a different place, visualize yourself standing there.

if all goes well, you will gradually be transported into the dream.

if all goes not so well, you will wake out of it

if all goes wrong, have fun with the sleep paralysis demon.

HOW TO RETAIN LUCIDITY

Say you finally get your first lucid dream, then what?

Practice.

your first lucid dream won't be great, or vivid, so don't expect to do all you desire, at least not yet.

you should put your efforts on on maintaining it, and exerting some form of control over the dream.

here are some methods on retaining a lucid dream

STABILIZING THE DREAM

First, you should spin 3-5 times, this will help ground you in the dream

after that, start rubbing your hands together, this will help ground your senses in your dream

touch the floor, the walls, random objects and characters, feel the texture of everything, this will further ground the dream.

when you want your dream to become more vivid, Try contacting your subconcious. simply yell "CLARIFY, CLARIFY, CLARIFY" until the dream makes itself more clear and real.

when you feel your dream fade, you could try spinning, that's a good trick.

when you feel you're losing lucidity, do another reality check.

with all that in mind, you still won't be able to do much, so practice exerting control, its all about willpower. if you believe you can do it, you'll do it.

if you're unsure you're ablê to fly, don't throw yourself off a building. depending on how vivid the dream is, you'll get too caught up in it, and end up experiencing what its like to have every bone in your body broken and mangled.

with that in mind, if you put enough effort and time, anything is possible.

DREAM SIGNS TO LOOK OUT FOR

i'm going to give examples of the dreams i nearly became lucid in.

I don't see many guides that do this, but i believe by sharing my experiences, you too can learn from them, and take advantage of it to get a lucid dream sooner.

I nearly had my first lucid dream on Day 1, but my reality check failed and that left me in a panic

below is a list of dreams, and how i nearly became lucid, but fell short in one way or another.

DAY 1

I was looking at my Alice Folder, until suddenly a relative appeared besides me while i was scrolling through the more "debaucherous" part of my folder

Rather than panicking, i simply told myself "If i was in a dream, my finger would pass through my hand."

i did exactly that, and my finger didn't pass through my hand. which from my perspective, it was real.

I panicked, and woke up.

This is why you do multiple reality checks.

DAY 11

i was watching youtube, and noticed the youtube playlist was changing every time i looked at it

until some troon demon came and attacked me. then i woke up.

DAY 23

I left a train station and entered a pharmacy looking to buy melatonin

the cashier was a naggy bitch and complained all the time

i had to verify myself on some strange terminal, and selected the "Rowdy Teen" prompt whatever it was for, as my order was being shipped overseas

i was then watching some top 5 vehicles video, and then vièwed it from the perspective of a soldier in the video, watching some high ranking officer with a bunch of captured taliban or whatever play with a remote control car

after a minute of watching them play, i went down a hall through the back of the stage and entered a medieval battle, and then the video's number 1 was... a bowl!

i then wandered into some room with pistachio nuts in a glass casing

i ate the nuts.

i took an elevator into my apartment, and got ready for bed.

but then i looked at the time, It was 13:00. i thought this was odd, why is it dark outside at 13:00? it should be day.

but soon after i woke up.

DAY ???

I woke up in a bed outside my home, and it as a stormy bizzard deep in the night.

I went inside and got on my computer. then noticed the time, 9:00

why is it 9:00? and why is it snowing when it should be soon summer?

i then woke up

DAY 48

I was walking about on a street in the dark, until i suddenly went to some place and started making doorways with paint.

This might have been me being lucid for a moment, but now that i look back i might've not been.

DAY 88

i was back on a motel, with some sidestory of a monk or priest trying to banish a demon there.

i got in my sleeping quarters, one side had a bed with someone else, the other had the bed with a ghost.

the ghost was creepy, and stared back at me, and i knew it was evil and that i should avoid it.

but then i suddenly got excited over Alice, and rushed to the ghost's bed and started flipping the blankets and mattresses in order to find Alice.

shortly after, i woke up into a wet dream.

I did not find Alice.

EPILOGUE

So that's the guide, i wrote it as best as i could trying to fill in any details that i might've missed or might have been important.

and if i did miss some details or get something wrong, please correct me on it.

If you're having trouble or want some help, please write me a letter, I'd be more than happy to help!

anyways, hope you find this useful... end.

the end. i think.
